Shannon Rene’ Hammer is a Nature Photographer specializing in Old World Art Editing Technique. Her images are often mistaken for the canvas paintings of long ago. Like those artists who strived to create depth through different layers of pigment applied over time, she too uses a very similar technique when applying her final edits to the images she has been able to capture.
Her love for Photography began after having been diagnosed with breast cancer during a time that was already filled with great fear and isolation. She and the love of her life, her husband of almost forty years, set out together to the Everglades of Florida, to reflect during this time on the blessings in their lives, as she sought also to find “peace in nature.”
While there, a seed was planted and began to grow as she encountered a rare sighting of the beautiful Roseate Spoonbill bird with “wings wide open.” A calm, peaceful, and almost angelic presence stood before her offering what seemed to be like a beautiful invitation. Capturing the image of the Spoonbill gave way to a great passion for photography and a continued love for the beauties of Art and Nature.
Shannon is a cancer survivor. She and her husband travel yearly back to the Florida Everglades, to that place where her passion for photography began. Her images are captured in her home state of West Virginia, with the exceptions of a few local and endangered species from the Florida Everglades and surrounding areas. Her collection continues to grow.
